In 2018, the Italian output of apples amounted to *** million tons. This figure was in line with the average production reported in the country since 2014. However, 2017 represented an exception, as the severe weather conditions in August caused a lower harvest volume (1.9 million tons) during that year. According to the producers, because of the lower production, a greater amount of apples was destined to the industrial processing. In 2023, total apple production had a slight decrease and realized at approximately *** million tons.
