The Conservatives won 318 seats in the 2017 General Election, falling short of a majority in parliament and resulting in a hung parliament. After this election, the Conservatives, led by Theresa May, formed a minority government that was reliant on the support of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to pass legislation.Â
