The surveillance system "OKkio alla SALUTE" aims to record the excess weight in children in Italy. Collection of data were done in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016. 2019, and 2023.

Prevalence of obese and overweight children in Italy 2008-2023
Between 2008 and 2023, the overall prevalence of overweight and obese 8 and 9 year old children in Italy decreased. In 2023, the share of obese children amounted to *** percent, while in 2008 it was ** percent. The same trend, but with higher shares, was observed for overweight children. This statistic shows the percentage of obese and overweight children aged 8 and 9 years in Italy in selected years between 2008 and 2023.
