It was estimated that there were around 3682 tigers living in India in 2022, a rise of almost ** percent in a period of four years. When the country's tiger conservation program, Project Tiger was launched in 1973, the striped big cat was almost on the verge of extinction. With increased and focused efforts in conservation, the program has been a definitive success.
