At the end of financial year of 2023, building material traffic amounted to over 12 million metric tons across India. It was a decrease in comparison with the previous year. In 2019, the highest volume of building material handled by the country's port over the ten years was observed. About 70 percent of trade by value and more than 95 percent by volume across the country was done through maritime transport.
