In fiscal year 2019, the revenue realized by the Indian central government from import duty on high speed diesel oil amounted to around 11 billion Indian rupees. That year, about 83 percent of the tax revenue was generated from high speed diesel and motor spirit by the central government. Road tax across the country continued to stay above the goods and services tax.
