In the period from 2006 to 2016, the number of sushi restaurants and sushi catering businesses in Norway grew strongly. It increased by more than *** businesses and amounted to a number of *** sushi restaurants/ caterings by the end of this period. In this year, the domestic food service sector generated a revenue of almost *** billion Norwegian kroner, of which 721 million Norwegian kroner were from the sushi sales within this industry.

Sushi sales in grocery stores

 â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯ In Norwegian grocery and convenience stores, the sales value of sushi was highest in 2014, when it peaked at *** million Norwegian kroner. In the following two years, the revenue generated from sushi sales decreased to *** million Norwegian kroner.

 Consumption per Norwegian

 â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯ In 2016, the sushi consumption per person was highest in Eastern Norway as it valued at *** Norwegian kroner per capita. In Trøndelag, the central part of the country, the consumption of sushi had an amount of *** Norwegian kroner per person and in Western Norway, it was ** Norwegian kroner.
