Data has been extracted from the Annual Business Survey for the Non-financial business economy using SIC (2007) code 47.78/1 - Retail sale in commercial art galleries.

The Annual Business Survey (ABS) samples approximately 62,000 businesses in Great Britain and 11,000 in Northern Ireland to produce estimates for the total UK non-financial business economy. The source provides the following additional information: "Any reference to "businesses" relates to reporting units registered for VAT and/or PAYE on the IDBR. Some very small businesses (those without employees and with turnover below the tax threshold) will therefore be excluded".
