In the first quarter of 2021, Proximus customers used on average 4.4 gigabytes of blended mobile data per month in Belgium. This is an increase compared to the previous year, when the average data usage amounted to 3.2 gigabytes per month per user. Usage of 4G data increased quarterly between the second quarter of 2017 to the first of 2021, despite a decrease in the second quarter of 2020. The number of mobile customers of Proximus, however, decreased between 2015 and 2018. Roughly 3.7 million customers had a Proximus mobile subscription, whereas by 2018 this decreased to just over 3.5 million mobile customers.

Decrease in number of Proximus mobile customers

Among the Proximus costumers, the majority were postpaid mobile customers. In 2018, roughly 2.74 million customers had a postpaid subscription, whereas 772,000 had a prepaid type of subscription. Observing the annual mobile service revenue of Proximus, it amounted to 963 million euros. Compared to the previous year, it is a decrease of 16 million euros.

Customer subscriptions Telenet

Telenet, another large telecommunication provider in Belgium, had registered a total of just over 2.73 million mobile subscriptions, whereas approximately 1.94 million people had a video subscription at Telenet in 2018.
