Between January and the beginning of May 2020, 13 earthquakes of magnitude 3.6 and over were registered in Italy. Figures show that most of the earthquakes were recorded in the southern region of Calabria or on its coasts. In particular, several earthquakes in this region had a magnitude of over four. Due to the geodynamics of its territory, Italy counts a large number of earthquakes annually. Several earthquakes in the country are also caused by the volcanos: there are many active and dormant volcanos in Italy. For instance, Etna, in Sicily, is a very active volcano and the highest active volcano in Europe.
