Based on sales, the Salling Group had a market share of slightly less than ** percent in Denmark in 2024. It was ahead of Coop, Reitangruppen and some others. Formerly known as Dansk Supermarked Group, the Salling Group operates the stores Bilka, Føtex, Netto, BR and Salling. Additionally, the group consists of several online shops as well as franchises. In the period from 2012 to 2023, the retailer’s net revenue increased constantly. By the end of this period, the company generated a net revenue of just over ** billion Danish kroner.
In the same year, Coop Danmark’s market share, based on sales, amounted to ** percent. But in contrast to the Salling Group’s net revenue, the net revenue of Coop Danmark decreased until 2019. In 2012, it was approximately ** billion Danish kroner and declined steadily to around ** billion Danish kroner in 2019. In the years that followed, it grew again to approximately ** billion Danish kroner.
The Swedish food and health retailer ICA had by far the largest market share in the country in 2022. It reached almost ** percent and was followed by the Axfood Group, Coop, Lidl, and City Gross.
