Values for 2013 through 2017 were taken from previous versions of ZIV's report. The 2018 version was released by Zweirad-Industrie-Verband (ZIV) in March 2019.
Germany's bicycle industry increased between 2019 and 2020, beginning to embrace e-bikes. German manufacturers produced roughly 1.3 million electric bicycle units in 2020, up from around 960,000 electric bike units in 2019. This is the second consecutive year where e-bikes production surpasses the manufacturing of other types of bicycles. The most popular manufacturers include Cube, Prophete, Kalkhoff, and Haibike. Haibike is a subsidiary of the Dutch company Accell.
