*Museums and galleries in the United Kingdom were closed from mid-March to June 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They were closed again from November 5 to December 1, 2020 and from January to mid-May 2021.
Following three months of no admissions at the Imperial War Museums in England, visitors resumed attending the famous museums in the second quarter of 2021. August was the busiest month for the establishments that year, having welcomed *** thousand visitors in total. Despite the recovery in attendance in the second half of the 2021, visitor numbers did not reach pre-pandemic levels that year. For comparison, the Imperial War Museums reported roughly *** thousand guests in August 2019. Due to the restrictions enacted during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, museums and galleries in the United Kingdom had to stay closed for several months in 2020 and 2021.
