Citation formats

The most widespread cost of monthly mobile phone bills, judging by customer numbers recorded, amounted to under ** euros. Close behind was the share of the German population paying ** to ** euros.

Contracts more popular

The number of mobile phone connections in Germany has experienced a slump after explosive growth, before picking up again. As of last count, the figure stood at *** million. The majority of mobile phone users had a contract as opposed to a prepaid plan. This was also true across age groups and when breaking down numbers by gender.

Household mobile phone ownership

While the share of private households in Germany owning a mobile phone has grown somewhat slower in recent years, it does still continue to rise. Market presence is split more or less evenly between three leading providers: Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica O2.
