Annually, the consumption volume of fresh vegetables increased in the period of 1960 to 2022 in Sweden. The volume grew overall, to approximately *** thousand metric tons of consumed fresh vegetables in the country. According to preliminary figures for 2021, this was a consumption volume of **** kilograms per person.  

Consumption of root vegetables 

In selected years from 1960 to 2022, the consumption volume of root vegetables fluctuated in Sweden. Overall, it increased from about ** million kilograms of consumed root vegetables in 1960 to roughly *** million kilograms in 2022.    

 Retail sales’ revenue 

Vegetable sales in Sweden generated an increasing revenue in recent years, peaking in 2022 with almost ** billion Swedish kronor. The same goes for the sales revenue of organic vegetables for the retail trade in the country. It was highest in 2020, amounting to around *** billion Swedish kronor. As of 2022, a revenue of *** billion Swedish kronor was recorded.
