The source adds: 'c2c operated the London, Tilbury and Southend franchise from May 1996 until November 2014. In May 2000, National Express acquired c2c as part of its purchase of Prism Rail. c2c has operated the Essex Thameside franchise since November 2014. In February 2017 c2c was sold by National Express to Trenitalia. Due to data limitations, we are unable to split data relating to c2c from 2016-17 between National Express and Trenitalia.'

A steady increase in C2C trains passenger transport volume was observed during the time period shown. In the financial year 2016/17, the transport volume reached its peak at *** billion passenger-kilometers.
In 2000, National Express acquired C2C. Further, in February 2018, C2C was acquired by Trenitalia. Since the last acquisition the data could not be split and therefore no more data for C2C has been published.
