The broadband supply information is based on supply notifications from the telecommunications network provider. Due to a new telecommunications law, for the first time ever network providers must deliver their broadband availability to the Central Information Office (Zentrale Informationsstelle) of the federal government.
In contrast to the previous survey times, the supply notifications must be made with the correct address. This results in significant differences in relation to the data basis.
There are some areas, however, in which the data has not yet been fully completed because individual data suppliers have not yet received any or have possibly reported an incomplete supply status. This applies especially to parts of Hamburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Saxony.

The figures provide the share of households which, through grid-bound technology (until the end of 2018 also wireless technology), can be supplied with the appropriate speed.
