Vanguard Asset Management Limited ranked second in global assets under management. Among asset managers headquartered in the United Kingdom, Legal & General is the largest.

United Kingdom’s investment management industry

The United Kingdom is the leading country in investment management in Europe, with more than a third of the total European assets under management. The net value of assets under management in the country was more than double as high as in France, the second largest country. Most of the assets under management in the country are managed for institutional clients, of which over 40 percent are pension funds.

The asset management industry in Europe grew almost each year during the last decade, except for a slight drop in 2018. The value of assets managed by a third-party asset manager was estimated to around 25.8 trillion euros in 2019.
