In 2018, the beer brewing industry in Canada generated approximately **** billion U.S. dollars in revenue, an increase in over *** million dollars over a ten-year period. This figure was forecast to increase to around *** billion dollars by 2024.

Breweries in Canada

In 2018, there were almost 1,000 licensed breweries across Canada which were contributing to the industry’s revenue. Almost one third of these were located in Ontario, and a further *** were in Quebec, making them the regions with the highest number of breweries in that year.

Beer consumption in Canada

Per capita consumption of both Canadian and imported beer has gradually been decreasing – in 2018 per capita consumption was measured at **** liters, whilst consumption in 2008 reached almost ** liters. It was estimated that almost 39 percent of all beer sold in Canada was consumed by Canadians aged between 18 and 34 in 2019. Those aged between 35 and 49 were the second biggest consumer group, drinking over almost ** percent of all beer sold in Canada.
