According to 2022 data, the median price for Humira in the United States was around six times the price for the same drug in Germany. Two kits of Humira Pen (40 mg) cost an average U.S. dollars compared to dollars in Germany. At *** U.S. dollars, the same supply was even cheaper in Greece. In general, higher drug prices are a much discussed issue in the U.S. and pharmaceutical per capita spending is significant higher here than in other developed countries. 

Where Humira is used

Humira is used mostly for the treatment of rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. However, like many other top drugs, the range of medical conditions it can be used to treat is much larger. Thus, the drug is also used to treat Crohn’s disease, ankylosing spondylitis, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, uveitis, and some other autoimmune diseases. Humira is administered subcutaneously via injection. It was approved for the first time in 2002 in the United States.

Humira’s impact on AbbVie

Humira is manufactured by U.S. pharmaceutical company AbbVie and ²µ±ð²Ô±ð°ù²¹³Ù±ð»åÌý**** billion U.S. dollars of total revenue in 2024. This is, however, only a fraction of the ** billion dollars generated in 2022. From then, Humira's market position increasingly declined due to the impact of several biosimilars.
