In the period of consideration, domestic air freight made up a small portion of total air freight in the UK. A clear drop in international freight handling can be seen in 2009, however, the amount of international freight being handled has risen since then. In 2016, domestic air freight has seen its lowest volume throughout these years, at * metric tons. However, domestic freight volume has been slowly increasing since 2017, reaching a total of * metric tons in 2020.
