The share of girls aged eight to 18 years old in the United Kingdom who enjoyed reading amounted to 39.1 percent in 2025, according to a survey held in spring that year. Whilst it was true that more girls than boys expressed enjoyment in reading (in line with annual trends) the 2025 figure was the lowest recorded for both genders.
