North America accounts for nearly half of the retail sales of organic food worldwide, making it the largest market for organic food aside from Europe, with most of that being attributed to the United States. Organic food in the United States has occupied a greater share of the total food sales every year since 2008. In 2022, about *** percent of total food sales in the United States were generated by organic food.
