This report was previously published by BP. Figures refer to inland demand as well as international aviation and marine bunkers and refinery fuel and loss. Data excludes consumption of biodiesel and biogasoline but includes derivatives of coal and natural gas are included.
Japan consumed *million metric tons of oil in 2024. This represented the lowest figure since 1990 in the country. During the period under consideration, figures decreased by around ****million metric tons. The country is ranked amongst the world's largest primary energy consumers.
