Leading rice producers worldwide

Within the 2024/2025 marketing year, India and China were the top rice-producing countries by far, based on the area harvested. India harvested a milled rice area of approximately ***and a half million hectares, while China’s area amounted to some ***million hectares. In terms of production, the gap between the two countries was smaller. China produced *** million metric tons of milled rice, while India produced 151 million tons.
