Increase in online gambling

Interest in remote and online gambling has risen in recent years, as reflected in these sectors' gross gambling yield. Within the past decade, the number of new players registering online has grown steadily, reaching over 35 million between April 2023 and March 2024. For remote casinos alone, GGY in this sector reached over four billion British pounds in 2024.

Demographics

Gambling participation in Great Britain is slightly higher among males than among females, with 51 percent of male Britons over 18 regularly participating in gambling as of 2025. Meanwhile, the age groups with the highest share of gamblers in Great Britain in the same period were 45 to 54-years old and 55 to 64-years old.
