The global imports of corn in the United States have fluctuated since 1990, with import volumes soaring in 2013. Due to a period of drought in the Midwest in 2012, the imports in the marketing year surged to over four billion metric tons. In 2026, the import volume was projected to reach 635 million metric tons. Overall, the U.S. is the largest producer of corn worldwide.
