The United States was the second most expensive country to receive a dental implant with an average cost of U.S. dollars.

Dental care can be a costly endeavor for patients in the United States. Year-over-year dental expenditures have increased, with dramatic increases seen in recent years. The costs are somewhat prohibitive to U.S. adults and a significant proportion of adults go without necessary dental care due to costs. Most dental care is paid for by either private insurance plans or out-of-pocket by patients.

It is recommended that adults see their dentist regularly for check-ups. However, costs can be quite prohibitive. Less than half of U.S. adults have some form of insurance that covers dental work with those living in the South Atlantic region having the lowest levels of coverage. Older adults have even lower rates of dental coverage despite having more dental health needs than younger populations.
