The supercomputer "LineShine" from Shenzhen Cloud Computing Center Co., Ltd achieved computing performance of around 2,198,400Â TeraFLOPS (1.8 trillion FLOPS) as of July 2026. That makes it one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world.Â
FLOPS stands for Floating Point Operations Per Second (floating-point operations per second) and denotes the number of executable (floating-point) arithmetic operations per second. The more FLOPS a computer can perform, the faster and more powerful it is. Determining FLOPS involves measuring the combined computing performance of main memory, processor, bus, compiler, etc.
Supercomputers are primarily used in research and development. High-performance computers enable simulations, data analysis, efficient production processes, and reliable forecasts for science and industry. The goal is to tackle problems that conventional computers cannot solve. Most of the 500 most powerful supercomputers worldwide are located in Asia.
