This statistic shows the annual evolution of the number of organ transplants performed worldwide from 2010 to 2023. During much of the observed period, the number of organ transplants performed globally experienced considerable growth, reaching over 153,800 transplants in 2019. In 2020, most likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the figure dropped by about 24,200. Specifically, around 129,700 organ transplants were performed worldwide in 2020. However, a year later, the number grew again; this trend repeated in 2022 and 2023, reaching an estimated figure of 172,410 transplants, marking a historic high.
