The source adds the following information: The Health Barometer surveys, initiated in France in the early 1990s by the French Committee for Health Education (CFES) and conducted since 2016 by Public Health France (SpF), question adults about their health behaviors. In partnership with the French Observatory for Drugs and Addictive Behaviors (OFDT), these surveys regularly include a module of questions on the use of illicit psychoactive substances, particularly cannabis, allowing observation of usage levels for nearly 30 years.

This statistic shows the evolution of cannabis usage levels among the French population from 1992 to 2023. In 2023, 10.8 percent of respondents aged 18 to 64 reported having used cannabis at least once in the year. Additionally, 3.4 percent indicated regular use. Comparing these figures to those from 1992, there is a clear increase in consumption, although some usage categories are not available for all the years studied.
