The size of the global robotics market exceeded 40.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, of which more than 78 percent was generated by the service robots segment. There is no doubt that this sector has experienced significant growth in the past year—largely thanks to artificial intelligence—which will continue over the next decade. According to forecasts by ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ, the revenue of this industry will increase by 61 percent over the next five years, surpassing 65.5 billion U.S. dollars.

Preference of Asian countries for industrial robots

Although service robots have evolved more rapidly, the expansion of industrial robots is undeniable not only in terms of business volume (with a projected increase of 61 percent between 2023 and 2028) but also in units installed. Currently, nearly four million are active worldwide, mostly located in Asia and Australia, where two countries stand out, China and Japan, which far exceed the number of installations in the United States.

Humanizing robots

One of the main objectives of robotics is to promote cooperation between humans and machines to achieve the most perfect synergy possible. For this, it is not necessary for the robot to be humanoid (also called android); however, this is one of the most ambitious goals aimed for the medium term. In fact, it is estimated that the global market size of humanoid robotics will grow by 4.8 percent between 2023 and 2028, surpassing the 12 billion U.S. dollars mark in the latter year. That said, achieving this will not be easy—financially speaking—since the high production costs associated with this type of technology must be dealt with.
