According to a December 2025 survey, some ** percent of American adults considered Venezuela to be an unfriendly or enemy country of the United States. This was the highest level observed over the period. Still, a significant portion of respondents were not sure about the nature of the relations between the countries.

On the night of January 2, 2026, the U.S. military led an operation in the capital of Venezuela, capturing and deposing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
