This chart shows the distribution by nationality of individuals convicted for pimping offenses recorded by police and gendarmerie services in France between 2016 and 2021. Among the pimping cases examined between 2016 and 2021, just over half of the convicted individuals were of French nationality.

Pimping is prohibited in France. It is punishable by seven years of imprisonment and a fine of ** U.S. dollars. According to Article 225-5 of the Penal Code, "Pimping is the act, by anyone, in any manner whatsoever:
1° To help, assist, or protect the prostitution of others;
2° To profit from the prostitution of others, to share in the proceeds, or to receive subsidies from a person habitually engaged in prostitution;
3° To hire, train, or divert a person for the purpose of prostitution or to exert pressure on them to prostitute themselves or continue to do so."
