This chart shows the evolution of the number of cases concerning pimping offenses recorded by the police and gendarmerie services in France between 2000 and 2021. The number of cases related to pimping offenses remains stable over the studied period, ranging between *** and *** cases per year.

Pimping is prohibited in France. It is punishable by seven years of imprisonment and a fine of ** U.S. dollars. According to Article 225-5 of the Penal Code, "Pimping is the act, by anyone, in any manner whatsoever:
1° To help, assist, or protect the prostitution of others;
2° To profit from the prostitution of others, to share in the proceeds, or to receive subsidies from a person habitually engaged in prostitution;
3° To hire, train, or divert a person for the purpose of prostitution or to exert pressure on them to prostitute themselves or continue to do so."
