Thus, it is no surprise that these nations are precisely the main wine exporters, nor that they are the leading destinations in terms of wine tourism.

Wine consumption

Regarding its intake, although it has recently declined to reach its lowest level in 2024, wine remains one of the preferred alcoholic beverages among the population, especially among the Portuguese. Indeed, they were once again crowned as the highest consumers of this drink in the last year. Specifically, a Portuguese citizen drank an average total of **** liters of wine in 2024, surpassing Italian consumption by nearly ** liters, with Italians ranking second.
