Supplementary notes
The ranking of the most popular beaches was created using data from Google Maps by searching for beaches with the highest ratings and a minimum of 500 reviews. We then ranked these beaches first by average rating and then by number of reviews to create our initial list. Next, we extracted the number of Instagram posts using the beach name as a hashtag. In cases where the name included special characters, the full name or the most common name was used.
