Academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025
University towns
To establish this calculation, four factors are taken into account for the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025:
- a fixed base common to all students distributed across three geographic zones (Paris, Paris suburbs, and Province), including registration fees, the CVEC, meal fees, electricity, home insurance, telephone, internet, bank fees, medical services, mutual insurance fees, food, hygiene and cleaning products, clothing, books, and leisure. This common base concerns the expenses that a student should on average be able to afford without sacrificing expense categories.
- the average rents of private student housing in each university city, measured annually.
- the annual cost of public transportation for non-scholarship students.
Unlike the overall evolution of the cost of living from the previous survey released in mid-August, the Ranking of Cities conducted by UNEF does not take into account various social aids. The aim here is to calculate the average cost of living in each area, not the out-of-pocket expense.
