The source adds the following information: "Total annual catches by EU member states, Iceland, and Norway, as well as by the main other fishing countries in the Mediterranean. This region, called by the FAO 'main fishing area 37,' includes the Mediterranean and the adjacent Black Sea. The data are expressed in live weight equivalent of the landed products. This weight is that of the product at its exit from the water (i.e., before processing); however, it excludes products that are not landed for various reasons."
