Greta Thunberg is a young Swedish activist who fights against global warming and works to raise awareness about environmental issues. In 2018, she launched the "school strike for climate," during which middle and high school students are invited to skip classes to participate in demonstrations denouncing the inaction of public authorities in the face of climate disruptions. Greta Thunberg has also spoken at global climate conferences and summits, addressing the heads of state of major world powers.

The following chart represents the general opinion of the French about the environmental activist Greta Thunberg in 2019. It appears that the majority of French people, or 46 percent, had a good opinion of her.

The French and the climate emergency

In France, global warming does not leave people indifferent: 86 percent of French people say they are concerned about the issue, and more than half have become more interested in ecological issues while changing their behavior over the past few months. Indeed, many have implemented (or are ready to implement) eco-citizen and sustainable actions to limit their environmental impact.
Despite their efforts, French citizens believe that it is primarily up to public authorities to act to curb the climate crisis, and on this subject, nearly 70 percent of French people think that President Emmanuel Macron is not acting sufficiently.
