Germany had the largest installed capacity of municipal waste-to-energy plants in Europe in 2024, totaling 1,004 megawatts. During the observed period, the peak value of 1,084 megawatts was reached in 2020. Across Europe, total waste-to-energy capacity stood at 4.9 gigawatts in 2024.
