Japan's retail sector counted *** franchise chains in 2023, with miscellaneous goods retailers including pharmacies, books and sports equipment stores, and secondhand shops as the largest category. Although convenience stores were one of the smallest industries, with ** chains, the industry operated the largest store network in Japan.
