As of 2024, around ** percent of states in the United States had a cybersecurity budget line item established by the agency secretary or chief information officer. This constituted a 12-percent increase compared to 2022 when only ** percent had an established budget line item dedicated to cybersecurity. However, in 2024 approximately ** percent still did not have such a line item, and cybersecurity was part of their overall IT budget.Â
