In the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Polish athletes won a total of 10 medals, of which only one was gold. The highest number of medals was recorded at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and the 1980 Moscow Olympics, at 32. Poland won only one medal at the London Olympics, just after the end of World War II in 1948.

Incentives and performance

To boost motivation and performance, the Polish Olympic Committee significantly increased cash prizes for medal winners in 2024, offering 250,000 zloty for individual gold medalists, double the amount awarded in Tokyo. However, Poland won only one gold medal at the Paris Olympics, in the sport climbing competition. Boxing, canoe slalom, cycling track, and volleyball also brought Poland four silver medals.

Winter Games and Paralympic achievements

While summer Olympic performances have been relatively consistent, Poland's winter Olympic results have been more modest. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics yielded only one bronze medal, a stark contrast to the country's best winter performances in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, where Polish athletes secured six medals each. In Paralympic competition, Poland has shown greater success in Summer Paralympic Competitions. The 2024 Paris Paralympics saw Polish athletes win 23 medals, though this pales in comparison to the country's record-setting performance at the 1980 Arnhem Paralympics, where they claimed an astounding 177 medals.
