In 2023, nearly 40 percent of judges in the judiciary in Malaysia were women, an increase from 37.3 percent in the previous year. In 2019, Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat was appointed as the chief justice of Malaysia, the first woman to hold the highest judicial position.
