According to a survey on weddings in February 2024, over half of South Korean respondents answered that the main reason for having a family meeting before a wedding was to have a chance for two families to unite before the wedding. The next reason was to get approval for the marriage from both families. This family meeting is where the bride's family and the groom's family get to meet and be introduced to each other for the first time and talk about the wedding.
