Child labor is when children do unsafe work (called hazardous child labor) that is not safe or done in a dangerous environment. This is defined in DOLE Order No. 04 (1999) on "Hazardous work and activities to persons under eighteen (18) years old." It also includes work that lasts more than 40 hours, either at night or all day, by children between 15 and 17 years old. 12A (1) of RA No. 9231).

As of October 2024, about **** percent of working children aged five to 17 years in the Philippines were engaged in child labor within the agriculture sector. The share of child laborers gradually declined since 2022.
