Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which cause infections in people and animals. In 2022, a survey on the topic of resistance to antibiotics revealed that 92 percent of respondents in the EU had obtained their last course of antibiotics from a medical practitioner. Only eight percent of respondents in the EU reported that they obtained their last course of antibiotics from a source other than a medical practitioner. This statistic displays how people obtained their last course of antibiotics in the EU27 in 2022.
