In the United States, the commercial sector accounted for the largest share of energy consumed in the form of electric power in 2022, at approximately ** percent. The industrial and the transportation sectors, which are the major , were fueled by fossil energy sources or biomass at over ** percent. Overall, only **** percent of the energy used in the U.S. that year was in the form of electricity.
