According to a survey conducted among K-pop fans in South Korea in 2021, watching videos of their idols was the most common regular fan activity for fans of boy groups and girl groups alike, at around ** percent and ** percent respectively. While fans showed similar participation levels for many activities, there were some differences. Boy group fans were more likely to check artist schedules and news as well as participate in fan café or community activities, while girl group fans had a higher tendency to buy goods and attend events such as concerts. Traditionally, boy groups had more female fans and girl groups had more male fans. However, this trend has recently begun to change, with girl groups gaining more female fans.
